After having worked for 23 years at the Palace of Versailles, Laurent Hisssier has been pursuing his profession as a freelance gilder and decorative painter since 2013: The restoration of gilding (gilded frame, armchair), the decoration and creation of original objects, the decorative painting (faux marble, faux wood, patina, faux marble course) or creation of sets.

Since 2008, the workshop has been transmitting this ancestral knowledge during gilding and faux marble courses. A method developed with rigor, endeavors to put into practice and to transmit traditional and modern methods with the realization of panels, objects in gilded or molded wood.

The restoration of heritage is a very broad field and includes both religious heritage, such as altarpieces or church furniture, private collections in gilded wood (pictures, chairs, sofas).

The workshop works for private and public clients (heritage), institutions, museums but also for subcontracted companies in many areas such as events and yachting.

He works in Périgord, on the Côte d'Azur and travels in France but also outside our borders: Monaco, London and more recently in Qatar.

Co-author of the book “Art and techniques of gilding at Versailles” with Daniel Sievert (Compagnon du Tour de France des Devoirs Unis) at Editions Vial, (specialized in fine crafts). The book is intended for all audiences: professionals but also anyone wishing to better understand the profession of restorer, very richly illustrated with works restored at the Palace of Versailles.

The creation of original works combining gilding, imitation of materials and glass is also an activity that is close to our hearts. The exhibition at the Empreintes workshop in Antibes reflects all passions and we will be happy to welcome you there, at 18 rue Brûlée, in the historic district of Safranier.
